Look Up

“This media we call social is anything but, when we open our computers and it’s our doors we shut”… This is one of the most vital messages that everyone needs to hear. Look Up is a spoken word for the “online” generation. Written, performed and directed by Gary Turk, it is an extremely important life lesson for our youth.

Alasdair Thomson

Alasdair Thomson is a sculptor living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is Italian-trained and has significant experience in carving large scale sculpture and other elements of decorative stonework, both in Scotland and abroad. Through his current series of sculptures, Alasdair is exploring the way fabric hangs and folds, and is attempting to capture that lightness and gracefulness in stone. Named 'The Identity Collection', his recent sculptures are carved copies of garments donated by his friends and family. Seeking to capture the characters of those he invited to donate, he surrendered the control of the content of the series by allowing others to submit garments of their choosing for him to carve. The results are simple and understated, as well as timeless and nostalgic.

Identity for Aquatilis Expedition

You might remember super-talented underwater photographer Alexander Semenov capturing the habitants of the deep blue world of our oceans. Not long ago, Alexander decided to make a three-year long adventure across all deeps of the oceans - Aquatilis Expedition - the journey through the unknown. The identity and digital experience has been created by NY-based art director Tobias van Schneider.

The Aquatilis wordmark took inspiration from our space/universe. We aimed to create a simple & elegant wordmark giving you the feeling of floating through space with beautiful alien-like creatures. Strong typography choices complemented the look & underline the adventurous side of this epic project.

Hopper Meditations by Richard Tuschman

Edward Hopper's art draws a lot of attention last month. Worth to mention Nastya's Ptichek "Emoji Nation" but today's Richard Tuschman’s series “Hopper Meditations” evokes the moody colour palettes, cityscape backdrops, and solitary female characters that are signature elements in Hopper’s paintings.

“I wanted to do a series of staged figurative narratives, somehow connected to past art, but also something I could take ownership of. The sets are all painted dollhouse size dioramas that I built and photographed in my studio. A lot of the furniture is standard dollhouse furniture, but some I made myself. I photographed the models against a plain backdrop, and then made the digital composites in Photoshop. This method gives me a great deal of control over every aspect of the process, and I can do it all in my small studio”
