Digital Decade SE 2020: VR Exhibition

With no doubts, 2020 is a total game changer. Digital officially becomes a part of our life in all possible ways and words “Internet”, “IoT”, “Online” does not make any sense now. It is life in all its beauty, pixels and germs..

During Digital Decade 2020 we hand-picked several artists and asked them to come up with visual representations of post-2020, post-isolation and post-identity. From today this set of artworks is available for collecting on Sedition Art Platform. The platform is dedicated to collecting digital art limited copies that you can enjoy as a part of your digital life, on a laptop, mobile or even wall frame TV.

This release is accompanied by VR/3D Gallery that you can access anytime and enjoy the atmosphere of a late night party (thanks to Ben Paul for the music mixtape). The exhibition features works by Krista Kim, Aristarkh Chernyshev, Eliška Sky, Azamat Akhmadbaev, Joëlle Snaith, Dimitri Daniloff and Grégoire A. Meyer.

Digital Decade SE 2020 is the latest in the Digital Decade series of events by DesignCollector. Digital Decade is the brainchild of Designcollector founder Arseny Vesnin, who has curated and coordinated public phygital art events in London, St Petersburg and Barcelona since 2013. Since then Designcollector have presented the work of more than 150 pioneering, exploratory and celebrated artists working between the physical and the digital, as well as partnering with organisations including OFFF, Ello, Depositphotos and FutureFest.

On 8 July a new collection of digital editions curated by Designcollector Creative Network launches on Sedition. The exhibition features works by Krista Kim, Aristarkh Chernyshev, Eliška Sky, Azamat Akhmadbaev, Joëlle Snaith, Dimitri Daniloff and Grégoire A. Meyer.

Digital Decade events are live artistic responses to current changes (geopolitical, environmental, social) influencing life in the digital age. For the latest iteration, held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, artists have creative speculative and critical comments on how phygital life may change post-pandemic. The 50 Digital Artists we curated offline in 2017

Instead of doing our classic Cream of the Top we decided to look back and underline the best thing we did this year. Definitely it was the 5th instalment of Digital Decade collaboration with 50 artists (let's say top artists of 2017 by our version) that ended in August as a group show of Phygital Art in London. The concept of Digital Decade5: Cyberia was “the Unknown Territories Shaped by the Digital Ethnos”. This, “Ethnos” refers to the generation of digital people that are changing our world, and continuing to influence our culture. As our world becomes increasingly digital, it ultimately transforms to become a ‘Cyberia’.

Digital Decade 5 was hosted by Ugly Duck space as a part of their Creative Seasons program. Ugly Duck is a London Based social enterprise that revitalises empty and underused buildings, and open them up for creative uses. Ugly Duck has also been used as unusual locations for films, photoshoots, and events.

The Digital Decade IV London: How it was

We are happy to share official photographs from the event hosted by Designcollector and Youth Worldwide in London this July. As you may remember the topic of our annual digital art collaboration was "There is No Planet B" where curated and open contest artists faced the challenge to "Imagine there is no.." war or aggression, gender or racial issues, pollution or climate change. Nearly 30 artists were exhibited at Underdog Art Gallery in South London.

If you follow us already you may know that we run awesome digital art collaboration each spring for the last few years with the resulting exhibitions at OFFF festivals or so. This year together with Youth WorldWide we took a great challenge and moved our cause to London as a standalone group show to happen just in a matter of few days!

There is No Planet B

4-7 July, London

On July 4th, Digital Decade’s annual art collaboration kicks off at the Underdog Gallery in London. This year’s exhibit, “There is No Planet B”, features the work of international digital artists who address the economic, social, political, and environmental problems we face by imagining a world without them.

Using their talent for photo manipulation and glitch art - the purposeful corruption of data within a digital file to create distorted yet aesthetic effects - 25 invited artists and 2 winners of The Open Call contest come together to “Imagine there’s no… climate change, human aggression, war”, and more.

Curated by Arseny Vesnin from Designcollector Network, with help from Curioos, YOUTH Worldwide, and Depositphotos, the artworks will be featured on large aluminum prints until July 6th.

The Digital Decade 2016: Winners and Artists

With a lot of efforts from the team of Digital Decade and the best artists ever we are getting close to our London's exhibition happening in July 4-6 at Underdog Gallery.

The Digital Decade is the annual art collaboration run by Designcollector and partners started at OFFF Festival in 2013. The collaboration has 2 Phases and a resulting event.

• 1st Phase - we invite 20+ curated artists to warm up the event and create their works.

• 2nd Phase - we invite everyone to take part in Open Contest and having a large jury board we select the best one and give the exposure and prizes.

This year we worked closely with 25 Artists for the 1st Phase and welcomed 100 Applicants on the 2nd Phase. The "Digital Decade 4" got more than 30 Artworks from Open Contest and judges selected 1 Winner and 1 Special Selection this time. With the great help of Depositphotos we secured the resulting event at London's Underdog Art Gallery and with the help of team behind YouthWorldWide we are going to heat up this place for 3 days in July.

For now we would like to thank everyone involved it to our cause and happy to announce the winners of the 4th Annual Digital Art Open Contest "There is no planet B". These 2 persons will join the group show of merely 30 selected artworks created by artists that took a great challenge to Imagine Our Own Planet without shit happening today.

Russian Motion Design 2015 for TRIMARCHI

As you may know Designcollector is invited to reveal selected Russian artist at the largest South America's media design festival - TRIMARCHI, near Buenos Aires. Filmteractive 2013: Russian Motion Design

Have you ever wondered how things are on Russian Motion Design scene? Alex Frukta with a support from Designcollector's editor Arseny Vesnin prepared a huge showreel that will blow up your mind and you will set a new record in watching video without breathing.

The Russian Motion Design reel was prepared for the FILMTERACTIVE Festival that happens on 25-26 of September 2013 in Lodz, Poland. Arseny Vesnin from Designcollector is going to speak about the hidden power of Russian artists and help to raise the bar of their recognition outside Russia.
